I want to pose the question: are we really trusting the wisdom of God?
Now of course our first response is an enthusiastic “Yes!” But maybe that’s because our pride compels us to. Pause for a second with the Holy Spirit to think on it.
Because if we are trusting the wisdom of God why do we demand the Lord explain himself? Isn’t he just and absolutely good? Why can we not simply trust? What healing is hindering you from having the humility to trust? For perfect love casts out fear. Perfect love is a bridge of trust that guides us through life.
Now we also need to consider the counter balance of this which is we can ask God questions because we are in relationship with him. The difference I believe lies in the intention. Consider the contrast between asking in fear and asking in the joy of curiosity.
Proverbs 25:2 says “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.”
All for love’s sake?
Our lives is not about striving for rewards and ducking when we see punishment. But perhaps life is truly about learning the humility of love.
Love’s gentle, quiet ways sings to the heart of God. Mayhaps life is not in the beauty of a fight to be won, but a love that is surrendered. God is our portion of victory, our forever king who has conquered death and has prepared a place for us with him when we die.
Our lives are not some small thing. But our lives are a painting, a script, a dance, to the maker of wisdom, the one whom it is ridiculous to question. Doesn’t Job say it is the faultfinder who is a fool? I have decided to take the word of the Lord as a solid foundation. If life is fleeting then I do not long to ask the question why, but I long to see the heart of God pleased.
Consider the SEASONS
Ecclesiastes is depressing in it’s endless critique of following righteousness, yet it is known as a wisdom book. There is a well known passage in Ecclesiastes describing how there is a time for everything. Truly, there is a time for all things, and in all things we must loosely hold them. For we do not know what surprises will appear in the morning.
John 10:27 says “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” Everyday is a day we follow that voice. In all trust, following him anywhere, not wasting the day with worry.
Peace in trust
You will find more peace in quiet trust then you ever will in the toil of demanding the why of life. Are you one of infinite wisdom? Can you for even a moment make the grand decisions that spins the hidden corners of the universe in order. Do you, in your vanity, believe that you have such a better way?
Jeremiah 55: 8-9
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. “
Life would look a lot different if we lived in the absence of fear because of the perfect love of Christ Jesus, walking through every season in the faith of God because we believed the words of his scripture.
Trust is evidence of our great love with Christ. And overarchingly, trust brings ease in obedience. As John 14:15 puts it, “If you love me, keep my commands.”
Remember it is when we surrender our situations to God that we give him permission to do it in his timing. Live life with an open hand, receive the good and the lessons, praising God for his wisdom revealed.
Abundant gladness be yours today,
