“Grace, like water, flows to the lowest part.” – Philip Yancey
I want to talk about grace because grace is what has brought us access to God. Because of the shedding of the blood of Jesus. It is the unearned favor that is the bridge beneath our feet from sin to God.
Grace is one of the greatest forms of God’s love for us.
It is important we understand this because the grace of God, the shedding of his blood is what brought us covenant with God. We have accessed into a state of nothing missing and nothing broken, which is covenant, because of grace.
2 Corinthians 12:9-11 “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
The power of the grace of God is that it works by Him through Him and is miraculously not dependent on us. Overarchingly this means we are not beyond the grace of God.
The Testimony of Jesus
When we live life with Christ there is only one person we can boast about. He is the one who has tread the path we will trod.
Precious Jesus, that was of a humble and quiet spirit. Precious Jesus who came to teach us not of law but of love. Precious Jesus who came to reach out to the lost, lonely, broken, the unholy man who was far from God. Precious Jesus who taught us to pray to Abba. Precious Jesus who gave up his life for his beloved sheep. Precious Jesus who left us the Holy Spirit so we would never be parted. Precious Jesus who made a way for closeness to God.
This is the only boast we can make worthy of note. Is not God’s grace good? It is perfectly sufficient for us to stand strong on, and bear the winds that beat against us.
Let’s think about John the Baptist. Who prepared the way for Jesus, and then baptized the Christ. He fasted, prayed, went to the wilderness, and prepared the way for the coming Christ, his cousin. However, he would not have been able to do any preparation for God if it was not for the grace of God. It is God’s grace that called him into his ministry, his grace that allowed him to baptize the Christ, and it was God’s grace that allowed John to watch as the promised Holy Spirit descended like a dove from heaven onto Jesus, the beginning of a time for miracles in Jesus’ ministry. Sometimes it is grace to be able to witness the goodness of God.
A Humble Life With Grace
It is the humble that can approach the throne of grace. James 4:6 “But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
We are weak without God because we were not meant to live life without Christ. When we live life with the perspective “I need God” we become humble. And this is where we gain access to favor and can enter places we never could with pride.
My point being God will help you. You can take his hand out of depression. You can take his hand to get through a hard job. You can take his hand through hard family relationships. You can take his hand to get out of witchcraft. You can take his hand to get out of bitterness. Whatever it may be, the grace of God is sufficient. The hand of God is present.
God has ordained us with a call to bring glory to His kingdom. All we are meant to do is run the race set out for us by his grace. There is a great victory for us around the corner.
Grace has brought us this far, and grace will lead us home.
Praying for you,
Coral Faith
